  1. Next month kicks off Head Start Awareness Month. OHS has crafted a digital media toolkit to help us share the benefits of Head Start throughout the month of October. This could help you connect with eligible families as well as early care, education, and family service providers of all kinds.

Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Providing Protection Against Omicron Variant Available at No Cost, The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), announced that people with Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage, private insurance coverage, or no health coverage can get COVID-19 vaccines, including the updated Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, at no cost.   3. Why and How to Improve Pre-K Assessments: What Do Head Start Providers Think? New America, September 1, 2022, Head Start educators reported on challenges they’ve faced collecting and using assessments and identifying opportunities for improvement. Practitioners suggest we should make them equitable, culturally relevant for diverse groups of children, and easier to access
