Here's what you need to know

  1. It looks like the Senate is moving forward with a reconciliation package that does not currently include funding for Head Start and childcare. We must keep pressure on the Senate to ensure Head Start is included in the current economic package. FHSA encourages all members to reach out to your Congressional members to elevate this crisis by supporting the Head Start workforce.

  2. Equitable Access to Quality Early Learning Experiences Matters, July 19, 2022, Smithsonian Education Magazine: “Research from the National Head Start Association further shows that providing children a high-quality early learning experience reduces the need for future educational interventions, remediation, and social services.”

  3. The CDC will be hosting a webinar for Parents, Caregivers, and Community Partners on Protecting Our Children and Youth from COVID-19 Friday, July 29, 2022, @ 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM EDT. Experts and community partners leading vaccine efforts for children and youth who will discuss vaccine recommendations for everyone ages 6 months and older, risks and benefits and so much more.

Please visit our COVID-19 Resource page, which is updated regularly, and the FHSA events list for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we will continue to work with state agencies and partners to answer your questions.

Sincerely,

Wanda Minick
