  2. Federal Funding Update: What’s at Stake for Early Learning. Congress is in the thick of budget negotiations, and the future of child care funding hangs in the balance. The House and Senate have released competing proposals—with major differences:
▪️House: Flat funding Head Start ($12.272 billion) and CCDBG ($8.746 billion)
▪️Senate: Increases for Head Start ($12.36 billion, an $85 million increase over fiscal year 2025) and CCDBG ($8.83 billion – an $85 million increase over fiscal year 2025) With the September 30th fiscal deadline approaching, now’s the time to act. A government shutdown or funding lapse could disrupt services families rely on. Take Action: Visit FHSA’s Action Center to urge Congress to adopt the Senate’s funding levels and protect early learning investments.

  3. ICYMI: “When did caring for America’s most vulnerable kids become political?” The 19th News explores how Head Start has become politicized, with recent directives sparking concern across states. Leaders from Idaho, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio weigh in on the impact. Read the full article here.
