Here's what you need to know

  1. FHSA proudly welcomes four new board members—LaShonda Watson-Clark, Steven Martin, Alisa Thorton, and Mary Muniz-Pellicer—whose leadership will help drive advocacy, education, and family support across Florida’s Head Start community. Meet the new board and celebrate their impact!

  2. Government Shutdown & Safety Net Programs in Florida. While Medicaid and SNAP benefits are expected to continue through October, Florida’s WIC and TANF programs face uncertainty during the government shutdown. Advocates should monitor updates from USDA, Florida’s Department of Health, and DCF to stay informed on funding availability and service continuity. Read the latest news from Florida Policy Institute

  3. ICYMI: The Office of Head Start’s FY26 Monitoring Kickoff webcast recording is now available! Catch up on key priorities, streamlined review processes, and tools to help programs prepare for the year ahead. Recording and slides are ready to view. Please note: the OHS Focus Area 1 and 2 webinars have been postponed due to the government shutdown.

Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, for archived WYNTK and FHSA events for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we are happy to connect with you and learn how FHSA can serve you better.

Sincerely,
