Here's what you need to know

  1. On January 6, 2026, a decision was released by the Federal District Court in Seattle which grants a preliminary injunction, which temporarily blocks the federal government from enforcing the DEIA ban. This means that the federal government is blocked from implementing the Executive Order around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and cannot make further reductions to OHS staff. Click here to read the ACLU Press Statement. Click here to learn what it means for Head Start/Early Head Start programs.

  2. ICYMI: The OHS FY26 Focus Area 2: Comprehensive Services Review webinar premiered on December 18—and it’s packed with insights you won’t want to miss! Watch the on-demand recording here.  Download all slides and handoutshere.  Visit Headstart.gov for official monitoring materials.

  3. NHSA has launched Parents Unite, a national six‑month effort to elevate Head Start parent and caregiver voices. The campaign culminates in April 2026, when families will meet with members of Congress—both in Washington, D.C. and in local district offices—to share why Head Start matters.
NHSA will host a Parents Unite Zoom Call on January 20, 2026 at 3 PM ET to introduce the campaign and outline how families can get involved. All caregivers—parents, grandparents, foster parents, guardians, and others—are welcome to participate.

Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, for archived WYNTK and FHSA events for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we are happy to connect with you and learn how FHSA can serve you better.
