Here's what you need to know

  1. Take Action! There is still time to take action and urge Congress to oppose cuts to Head Start funding that would harm the over 3,957 children and families in Florida and support the Senate's increase in funding so we can continue to provide services to the children and families that need us the most.

  2. Budget negotiations were underway during the eighth week of the 2024 Regular Legislative Sessions. Here are updates on the bills FHSA has been monitoring this session.

  3. Is Head Start--An Important Program for Children in Poverty--Reaching All Who Need It? Two recommendations by the GAO to ensure Head Start funding is reaching the places most in need are to fully leverage the authority they have to award funds to areas with the highest need and the second recommendation is for Head Start to use the data it already collects to inform those kinds of reallocation decisions.
