Here's what you need to know

  1. One of the principles of Head Start is supporting children and families experiencing homelessness.   Head Start’s Decision-Making Tool to Determine a Family’s Homelessness Situation is an excellent resource to ensure your staff is trained on the definition and signs of homelessness and knows what to do if they believe a family is experiencing homelessness.

  2. It's not too late to ask Congress to Hold the Line for Head Start in the federal budget! NHSA is asking Head Start directors, staff, and parents to reach out to their Senators and Congressional Representatives and ask them to hold the line on funding for Head Start and include a minimum $1 billion increase for Head Start in the FY 2023 Appropriations bill. Please take a moment to send a letter and forward this link to your staff and families! Send a letter to Congress now!

  3. Let's get into the holiday spirit!  Check out these fun winter-themed activities that make eating fruits and veggies fun for kids! compliments of the Produce for Better Health Foundation

Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, which is updated regularly, and the FHSA events list for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we will continue to work with state agencies and partners to answer your questions.

Sincerely,

Wanda Minick
