The COVID-19 crisis is exacerbating many of the challenges that already faced early childhood professionals and many of the families that they serve. Now more than ever, providing trauma-informed care matters, especially for our most vulnerable children. The close, trusted relationships teachers and home visitors can build with children and families and the importance of providing culturally responsive programming specific to each child ensures each child's needs are met. But how do you know what each child's experience is each day? How do you ensure you have data not only for when to provide supports but also to demonstrate growth over time? In this session, participants will:

  • be able to take a deeper dive into understanding early brain development through an interactive discussion highlighting recent research and then connect the findings to their program priorities and day to day practices.
  • strengthen background knowledge of early talk and its connection to responsive and trauma-informed caregiving.
  • discover how to integrate a data-driven approach in providing equitable experiences for the children and families in their care.
