To learn about the risks of lead exposure and how to reduce you and your and family’s exposure, Head Start is hosting a lead facts educational session with staff from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

During this session, you will learn about the following topics:

  • What is lead and how might we be exposed to it?
  • Why should I be concerned about lead?
  • How can I reduce my family’s potential exposure to lead?
  • Where can I find more information about education, health, nutrition and how to help parents?

Denise Manole works at the US Environmental Protection Agency- Region 2 within the Chemicals Management Section. She works as part of the lead-based paint team on the accreditation of US EPA lead-based paint training providers, participating in outreach through the Community Lead Awareness initiative, working as a grants project officer and responding to lead (Pb) related public inquiries. Denise holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Applied Biology from Salisbury University.

Lisa Brodeth Carrick is currently a Training Specialist, assisting the US Environmental Protection Agency through a cooperative agreement with the Center for Workforce Inclusion, Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program. She supports the US EPA-Region 2, as a member of the lead-based paint team on the accreditation of US EPA lead-based paint training providers, participates in outreach though the Community Lead Awareness initiative, and responds to lead (Pb) related public inquiries. She was a leader and award winner in the for-profit and non-profit sectors in Sales, Technology, Training & Development, and Human Resources. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in the Thomas Hunter Honors Program, Hunter College, CUNY and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall.
