When we encourage families to share their personal stories, we can help them reflect on their resilience, achievements, skills, abilities, and resources. In addition, we can better understand families' needs and identify resources to help them move toward their goals.

In this final webinar in the Days of Hope and Courage series, we will explore the value of using storytelling with a perspective that highlights strengths. Also, guests from Head Start programs will talk about how the technique of asking families to tell their stories has enriched their relationships with families in their programs.

Key issues

During this webinar, we address the following topics:

  • Ways to use the storytelling technique with a perspective that builds on strengths.
  • How to use the Family Partnership Agreement and Strengths Assessment as an opportunity for families to share their personal stories.
  • Ways to support families and staff to bring about positive changes in programs by implementing the practice of storytelling.
