Guidelines for Presentation Submissions

General Information and Format

Workshop sessions should include extensive interaction between presenters and participants around an idea or hands-on experience of a practice. These sessions may also take the form of a crafted panel, staged conversation, dialogue, or debate – all involving substantial interaction with the audience.

Interactive sessions are a time when skills or concepts are taught, demonstrated, or explored. These sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes and should be structured so that some explanatory or introductory information is provided, with ample time for audience interaction, participation, and involvement.
Presenters may have handouts that summarize or expand upon the workshop content; in some cases, they may also have technical demonstrations, hands-on components, samples—or a stack of business cards to encourage people to keep in touch!

How do I submit a presentation proposal?

Complete the Presentation Proposal Form thoroughly. You can access the Presentation Proposal Form here.

Do I need to post my presentation and/or handouts before the conference?

Yes. Presenters must post presentations and handouts at least five days before the conference. A link will be provided to you in advance once the presentation has been accepted. Participants will be able to access them freely.

Should I bring my laptop?

Yes. Presenters must bring their laptop. Laptops will not be available on site.

How do I access visual aids?

Unfortunately, not every room is equipped with an LCD projector, speaker, and screen. If you need these items for your presentation, please indicate so on the Presentation Proposal Form. Also, FHSA cannot cover the costs of printing a large number of presentations and handouts we expect to present this year. If you would like participants to have hard copies of your presentation, please supply them during your session. Make copies for 25-50 participants (estimated count). Please note that there may not be printing or copying facilities on site, so please prepare these materials in advance of the conference.
