Here's what you need to know

  1. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At Head Start, we take mental health very seriously, and our support is inclusive, reaching from our staff to the children and families we serve. We recognize that mental health is multifaceted and have integrated it effectively into our Head Start services. ECLKC offers a wide range of supports, and we encourage you to make the time to foster dialogue, empathy, and understanding. Let's share these resources together to support everyone on their unique journey towards mental wellness.

  2. Call to Action! NHSA has drafted a letter to President Biden calling all past and current Head Start parents/caregivers to sign and share in support while leaders in Washington are in the final stages of considering the most extensive set of changes this program has seen in close to a decade. The Signing Deadline is May 12th.

  3. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2024. In Florida, over 3,000 teachers make up the Head Start workforce, putting in long hours to ensure young students succeed. Their dedication, hard work, and passion for teaching make them unique and deserve recognition above and beyond this one week. Take time this week to nominate one of your teachers for the FHSA Teacher of the Year Award or a #ThankfulThursday shout-out.

Please visit our  WYNTK resource webpage, for archived WYNTK and FHSA events for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we are happy to connect with you and learn how FHSA can serve you better.

Sincerely,

Wanda Minick
